Laurie Stone was first elected to the Harper College Board of Trustees in 2001. She served as Board Chair from 2003 through spring of 2010, and is a consistent presence at Harper events.
An Elk Grove Village resident, Stone is the Founding President of the Schaumburg Business Association, launched in 2001 to represent the needs of Schaumburg businesses, advance business causes and help members maintain a competitive edge in Illinois’ largest suburban economic center.
Under her leadership, the Association grew to nearly 700 members in less than a decade, becoming one of the most dynamic business organizations in the Northwest suburbs. Stone retired from her President post in 2010.
A 25-year resident of the Northwest suburbs, Stone is active in numerous civic and professional organizations, including the Roosevelt University Community Advisory Board and the Schaumburg Business Development Commission.
Stone spent a decade as President and CEO of the Greater O’Hare Association of Industry and Commerce and the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce. She also is a director of the Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau, a post she’s held since 1991.
